During this module, as a group we had to take from a childhood story and explain how it works from a simple level and how it can be adapted to fit different genres and different points of view.
Initial Story.

Initially we took from the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood' as a starting point. We plotted out the key events that take place within the story which allowed us to visualise them & then adapt them further on.
Point of Origin.

After this, we altered the starting point of the story, changing it to start when the wolf finds a shortcut to the Grandma's house. This is shown above and while the story may not flow correctly, it can alter the tone slightly and make characters seem more intelligent, have darker personalities or even seem more threatening if the audience knows something another character does not, in advance.
Point of View Shift.

While we had the key events of the story laid out, we tried to shift the point of view of the story to the perspective of the Lumberjack. This involved us adding some extra cards to build up the world for instance the first card describing his everyday activities. The shift in a point of view can allow for more character building over a certain amount of time giving the audience more time to see who the character is and can be an effective device to be used in Films and TV during sequences such as flashbacks showing a scene from another point of view.
Tonal Shift.

Finally we tried to alter the story to give it a tonal shift. We did this by giving the story a more 'down to earth' feel, adapting the story to fit into a crime scene. We added cards such as the initial 'News Flash' card as well as the PSA at the end of the story. This makes the overall tone slightly darker and allows for a more mature story to be told within the framework of a traditional, more happier fairytale.
